Pioneering sustainable construction solutions at Greenbuild 2023: Microban recap

Oct 09, 2023

In the heart of Washington, DC, Greenbuild International Conference & Expo 2023 unfolded as an inspiring gathering of forward-thinkers, where sustainability took center stage. Microban was honored to participate in Greenbuild 2023 with expert presentations and groundbreaking technologies, driving positive change in sustainable construction.

Antimicrobial Solutions: A game-changer for sustainable construction

The battle against mold and algae growth in the building industry is ongoing. These persistent issues threaten the durability of structures and pose safety concerns for building occupants. Microban’s antimicrobial solutions represent a game-changer in this context, offering multifaceted benefits for built environments.

Sharing our expertise

Microban had the privilege of participating in two conference track sessions where our team of experts shared industry insights and innovative solutions.

On the second day of the conference, Microban President, Michael Ruby, gave a presentation on how antimicrobial product protection is becoming a crucial element in sustainable plastics within the built environment. Attendees learned how the inclusion of antimicrobial protection in PVC building materials reduces waste and enhances product longevity.

On the third day, Souvik Nandi, Vice President of Technology and Innovation at Microban, presented the lifecycle of building products and the impact of degrading microbes. He explained how antimicrobial solutions align with sustainable construction practices by extending the lifespan of building materials and reducing the need for harsh cleaning chemicals that can degrade the product and risk pollution.

Paving the way for greener buildings

Microban’s booth 1057 focused on our newest technology innovations:

Mbns23 Microban Technology Shields ASCERA FT

Ascera™ is is a new, non-heavy-metal antimicrobial product line. The technology is suitable for integration into olefinic polymers and solvent-based coatings.

Mbns23 Microban Technology Shields Lapis Shield FT

LapisShield™ is a heavy-metal-free antimicrobial technology that offers improved quality and stability for water-based coatings. This ground-breaking technology is compatible with thin coating systems, ideal for transparent glass or plastic applications.

Mbns23 Microban Technology Shield MICROGUARD FT

MicroGuard™ is a unique line of antimicrobial chemistries for PVC, PU and EVA foam applications that work to protect treated products against the deleterious effects of fungal growth.

Our team of experts was available throughout the event to answer questions on how antimicrobial technologies can enhance the durability and performance of building materials, even in the harshest conditions. We were pleased to connect with key players in building and construction and look forward to building on these new relationships over the coming months.
