Microban is excited to announce that we will be participating in the annual Vinyltec® Conference this year. The conference features expert-led discussions, technical presentations, and networking opportunities to aid in fostering innovation and collaboration within the industry. This year’s conference will take place in New Orleans, LA, from October 20-22, 2025.

Dr. Mai Ha, Senior Product Development Engineer at Microban
Microban to speak on antimicrobial protection for PVC applications
Microban’s Senior Product Development Engineer, Dr. Mai Ha, will be delivering a presentation entitled:
“Emerging Trends in Protecting PVC from Microbrial Degredation”
- Date: October 21, 2025
- Time: 10:30 – 11:00 CST
In this session, Mai will discuss the effects of microbial damage to PVC, the current test methods for antimicrobial, and the future landscape of these test methods. Attendees will be able to gain insights into Microban’s antimicrobial and coatings solutions for PVC and how we have evolved our technologies to meet market demands.
Discover how antimicrobial solutions enhance PVC applications
Mold and mildew growth are some of the most prominent challenges plaguing plastic materials. Due to their almost certain exposure to outdoor elements, PVC materials are primary targets for microbial growth. This microbial growth can lead to stains, unpleasant odors, and premature product degradation that diminishes the aesthetic and functional integrity of the item over length of time.
As a result, manufacturers need to consider built-in antimicrobial applications that provide long-term product protection from mold and mildew growth. Integrating PVC with an antimicrobial additive during production allows the antimicrobial to become a permanent feature of the product. This solution offers continuous surface protection for the life of the product and ensures a long-term solution to microbial growth.

Technology Spotlight: MicroGuard
MicroGuard is an award-winning line of antimicrobial chemistries for PVC, PU and EVA foam applications that is available in both masterbatch pellet and liquid formulations. The technology utilizes highly effective non-metal chemistries that work to protect treated products against the effects of fungal growth.
How does it work?
MicroGuard disrupts enzymes, blocks metabolic pathways, and creates an environment where fungi cannot grow. Adding MicroGuard will help prevent product staining and loss of mechanical strength or flexibility caused by fungal attacks.
