Microban to Share Plastics Expertise at Interplas 2021

Aug 17, 2021

Microban will be exhibiting at Interplas, the UK's biggest plastics industry event, from 28th-30th September 2021.

Interplas Speaker Opp Jon Clapp

According to new research from The Royal College of Psychiatrists, 60% of adults say that the climate and ecological emergencies are affecting their mental health now, and will continue to do so in the future. As such, consumers today are more aware than ever before of the waste they produce in their everyday lives, as well as the effects of plastic pollution around the globe. How can organizations and manufacturers reduce plastic pollution and ensure that consumers can continue using everyday products with added peace of mind?

Microban® International is recognised as the world leader in built-in antimicrobial technologies and odour-control solutions, providing complementary strategies to regular disinfection that can protect products from microbial contamination. Microban technology penetrates the cell wall of microbes, including bacteria, mould, and mildew, to disrupt regular function and growth, helping to keep plastic products and surfaces cleaner between cleans.

Microban’s experienced polymer engineers incorporate its custom chemistries into products and surfaces at the point of manufacture, so that they become an integral component of the material and provide ongoing protection that works 24/7 for the lifetime of the product. By protecting materials from microbes, Microban can reassure consumers of the cleanliness of plastic surfaces, and help prevent biodegradation to keep that fresh product feeling for longer and avoid premature disposal.

In its mission to redefine plastics with PROTECTION THAT LIVES ON, Microban will be exhibiting at Interplas in Birmingham, UK, from 28th-30th September 2021. Interplas is widely heralded as the biggest plastics industry event in the UK and is expected to welcome more than 350 exhibitors, 12,000 visitors, and 30 key speakers.

Jonathan Clapp, International Senior Technical Manager at Microban, will join the Interplas 2021 main stage on the 29th September. In his presentation entitled ‘Redefining the Hygiene, Cleanliness, and Sustainability of Plastic Products with Built-In Antimicrobial Technology’, Jonathan will be educating Interplas delegates on available antimicrobial technologies for plastics. The presentation will cover compatible additive formulations, methods for testing antimicrobial performance, and global regulatory considerations. Jonathan will also explore common industry applications including plastics in healthcare, automotive, consumer electronics, construction, food service, and packaging. Jonathan will speak in a 30-minute session starting at 12.30pm.
