Microban Redefines Plastics at Interplas 2021

Microban was pleased to participate at Interplas, the leading exhibition for plastics in the UK. Find out more about what we got up to at this 3-day event in our official summary.

The Exhibition: Interplas 2021

Now in its 70th year, Interplas is the leading plastics exhibition in the UK, bringing together over 350 exhibitors and 14,000 buyers.

Alongside the tradeshow were two conference stages welcoming 48 industry speakers from leading authorities and organisations across the plastics, sustainability and academic sectors.

The Main Stage: Advancing UK Plastics

Set out to generate innovative solutions and offer a competitive advantage, the main stage hosted a number of compelling sessions from Jaguar Land Rover, British Plastics Federation, NHS England and Lloyds Bank to name a few.

On day 2, Microban’s very own International Senior Technical Manager, Jonathan Clapp, delivered an educational presentation entitled ‘Redefining the Hygiene, Cleanliness, and Sustainability of Plastic Products with Built-In Antimicrobial Technology.’ As part of his presentation, Jonathan shared information on methods for testing antimicrobial performance, global regulatory considerations, and common industry applications.

The presentation was greatly received by members of the audience who were able to unlock exclusive insights into antimicrobial solutions for plastics..

The Sustainability Stage: A Key Theme for 2021 & Beyond

Sustainability has been top-of-mind in company initiatives this year and was also a dominant theme at Interplas, where a dedicated conference theatre hosted a series of panel discussions and presentations throughout the full three days.

In response to climate change and changes to consumer behaviour, more businesses are now addressing the sustainability of their products and making conscious choices to utilise sustainable materials.

Speakers across sectors took to the stage and highlighted the importance of a circular economy, identifying supportive approaches across wider supply chains to tackle climate change and reduce plastic pollution.

Proven Antimicrobial Expertise, Delivered by the Microban Team

Situated on Stand D1 in Hall 4 (near the entrance), the team at Microban International was on hand to showcase our innovative antimicrobial technology portfolio.

Microban’s striking booth helped to communicate the primary benefits of built-in antimicrobial technologies for plastics. The booth also detailed common industry applications and featured an eye-catching image of microbial growth on an untreated polymer product. Establishing many new business relationships, the key takeaway for Microban was that the demand for antimicrobial plastics remains strong. We pride ourselves on being the global leaders in built-in antimicrobial protection for various polymers products and we were honoured to network with so many key manufacturers during the 3-day show.

Plastics of the Future

This past year, Microban has supported numerous brands in their mission to develop products with a built-in antimicrobial feature. This has resulted in enhanced performance and extended usable lifetimes for a variety of plastics products and surfaces - meaning they are less likely to end up in landfills as a result of stains, odours, or premature degradation caused by microbial growth

With an ever-increasing focus on climate action and product hygiene, Microban represents the perfect innovation partner for your plastic product development initiatives.
