Microban Continues to Win Key AEGIS Trademark Litigations in Asia

There’s a problem in the antimicrobial and odor control industries and unfortunately, this problem isn’t one we share alone.

There are many organizations around the globe that are repackaging false technology with tested, name brand trademarks. Recently, we have continued our fight against Greenchem International Co., Ltd., located in Shanghai, for illegally selling false AEGIS technology to brands in Asia and beyond.

In a commitment to both partners and the Microban brand, Microban has been in litigations with Greenchem for the fraudulent and illegal use of the Aegis Environmental Management Inc. (a subsidiary of Microban International) trademarks in Greenchem sales and marketing materials after the termination of their distributor contract with Microban and has recently acquired additional key wins in litigations across the Asia Pacific region. To date, Microban has won 10 litigations in relation to the use of Aegis Environmental Management Inc. trademarks.

Microban’s Senior Director of Global Textiles, Brian Aylward, said, “There is nothing that is more important to us than the quality of our product and the integrity of our brand. We will continue to take any legal action necessary to ensure that all misinformation about our AEGIS technology is off the market across the globe.”

It’s important to remember the AEGIS trademark has regulatory approval, undergoing extensive testing before hitting the market. Using any technology packaged as AEGIS and sold by Greenchem can have damaging effects and put you at both legal and regulatory risk.

If you are considering adding odor control technology, specifically AEGIS technology, it’s important to keep in mind that there may still be instances of fraudulent product use in China, Taiwan and other parts of Southeast Asia. Current and future Microban customers should only source AEGIS products directly from a Microban representative or through the Microban authorized network of distributors. Greenchem is not an authorized dealer of Microban products.

Aegis Environmental Management Inc. is the lawful owner of the Aegis, AEM and Aegis Microbe Shield trademarks in Asia, Europe and the U.S. Microban is the sole owner of its antimicrobial product registration in Canada, China, Europe and the U.S.
