The Microban® Analytical Lab Analyzes Target Loading Levels
The Microban Analytical Chemistry Lab is one of the industry’s leading analytical antimicrobial test labs, utilizing state-of-the art analytical equipment to assist our polymer, ceramic and formulation chemists during the development and process. Our chemists administer thorough testing and additive level comparisons in order to guarantee ideal antimicrobial integration.
Analytical Lab Testing
When performing an analytical antimicrobial test, our chemists begin by extracting antimicrobial additives from product samples in our analytical test labs. Microban utilizes high temperatures and pressures during a process called microwave extraction.
Various analytical lab tools then analyze the product sample in order to quantify levels of present antimicrobial additives. Machines such as the High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC), Liquid Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (LCMS), Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (GCMS) and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AA) are valuable pieces to every product’s quantifiable additive puzzle.
After determining a sample’s antimicrobial loading level, our chemists compare the results to the target loading level, benchmarking it against the microbiology efficacy results. Evaluating these types of analytical and antimicrobial test results verify the optimized loading levels for any given application.
