Antimicrobial Bath Product Protection for Cleaner Restrooms
Bathrooms are typically moist and warm and can harbor significant microbial flora. Studies have shown that flushing of a toilet can suspend microbial droplets in the air for hours. Some will cause damage to substrates like grout and sealants while others attack and discolor bathmats and shower curtains. Microban® technologies can be added to a variety of polymers (e.g. vinyl, rubber, latex, PP, PS, ABS) that are found in a variety of bathroom articles and can be easily molded or extruded as part of the manufacturing process. Incorporating antimicrobial bath product protection into your bath products will serve to prevent product deterioration, stains and unpleasant odors due to microbial presence.
From the initial planning phases to assisting clients with regulatory approvals, Microban makes it a priority to communicate with clients throughout our product development process. After we work together with our partners to complete the planning phase, our team of talented engineers design suitable antimicrobial compounds. By testing numerous formulations, we are able to pinpoint the ideal mix of chemical properties for proper antimicrobial bath product protection. After finding the ideal mixture, we check for appropriate antimicrobial performance and counsels clients with patent assistance and regulatory approvals.
The Microban brand is the global leader in built-in antimicrobial protection – with brand awareness levels that rival those of other ingredient brands such as Intel®, Gore-Tex® and Lycra®. The Microban brand is a valuable trustmark that will reassure your partners they’re getting durable, effective antimicrobial protection, with a history of safe use, that can help you drive purchase interest.
Microban recently conducted market research with consumers in the market for bathrugs to measure the impact of Microban antimicrobial protection on consumer purchase preference. The research included a control cell in which consumers were asked to indicate their buying preference after viewing product concepts for the three leading brands currently on shelf at retailers. Features were listed as in-store, and all three brands were of equal quality and price. In the second research cell, all other variables remained constant and Microban antimicrobial protection was added as a feature for one of the leading brands.
