Partnerships Introduce More Products with Microban® Technology to Public Spaces

December, 2008

Public spaces such as office buildings, restaurants, gas stations, gyms, hotels and restrooms are some of the dirtiest spaces you’ll encounter during your daily routine. And increasingly, companies with products in these spaces are turning to Microban for an added level of cleanliness. In fact, recent University of Arizona swab studies on dispensers and changing stations in public restrooms, restaurant highchairs and even elevator buttons in public buildings showed bacteria counts up to 500 times more than that of the average toilet seat.

Leading companies, such as Rubbermaid Commercial Products®, Koala Kare® Products, Kimberly-Clark Professional® and ThyssenKrupp Elevator® are leveraging Microban® technology to help keep their products cleaner, by inhibiting the growth of stain and odor causing bacteria, while grounding the Microban® brand as an important trust mark for the end user.

Kimberly-Clark Professional joined the growing list of Microban public space partners in 2007, launching of a new line of commercial paper towel, toilet paper and soap dispenser products exclusively featuring Microban® antimicrobial product protection. The dispensers will be a welcome addition to many public restroom facilities, as they will stay cleaner between cleanings. In addition to the dispensers, Kimberly-Clark Professional* has also recently launched WYPALL* microfiber cloths with Microban® antimicrobial protection, an environmentally-friendly cleaning cloth used in hospitality, office buildings and healthcare facilities.

Also in 2007, ThyssenKrupp Elevator launched of a new line of elevators with control buttons featuring Microban® antimicrobial protection this fall. ThyssenKrupp Elevator is the world’s premier manufacturer, installer and service provider of vertical and horizontal transportation technology. Their elevator systems transport people in many of the world’s most modern and exciting buildings – from major airports to large shopping malls, from the world’s largest office buildings to the most famous and luxurious hotels.

Koala Kare Products, the U.S. leader in baby changing stations, and Rubbermaid Commercial Products, leader in commercial highchairs, recognized a need for Microban antimicrobial technology and have sustained their competitive edge by offering a compelling benefit to business operators and most of all, mom’s on the go.
